Unlike Barkshire's last race in Iowa, where Jeff and his all volunteer team had the 46 Centennial Battery Dodge leading laps and racing up front with Kasey Kahne for the "most fun driving ever," Saturday's race in Denver was a frustrating battle with an ill handling car. Finding the right set up for their first race at Colorado National proved illusive. "We fought a tight car all practice, made several adjustments, and ended up with it way too loose by qualifying." He was able to qualify only 10th, and continued to fight the loose car to the end of the race. Jeff was able to hold a position in the top 10 until lap 59, when he was hit in the rear and spun. He recovered quickly, they remained under green, but it put him back to 18th position. It was a long ride, without the help of any cautions, up to 9th position where he finished the race. It was a frustrating race for driver and team, but Jeff was able to hold on to his 3rd position in the Camping World Series West points' competition and his 1st position in the Rookie of the Year Standings. Next, it's on to Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California on June 21st for Jeff's first experience on a road course. From changing the car to an entirely new set up, to driving the track, it will be a day of firsts and is bound to be exciting.
