With only one road course race under his belt, the Infineon race in which he finished l0th, Jeff headed to his second at Miller Motorsports Park, a three mile road course track in Utah. Along with about ten other Camping World Series drivers, Jeff took advantage of the driving school there the day before the race, with class instruction and track time spent in a Mustang. "It was instructional and fun, and seemed to pay off as we achieved second fast time during first practice." Jeff began the race with their Centennial Battery Dodge, converted for the road track, in 12th position. He was running in the top 10 when, on lap l5, the right rear tire went flat, and he had to travel the entire three mile track with it to reach the pit, putting them down a lap. Fortunately, they got the lucky dog on the next caution, enabling them to restart in the rear of the lead lap. They had worked their way up to 8th position when, on the last corner of the last lap of the race, Jeff was run off the track, resulting in him losing three positions to finish the race in 11th place. As summed up by Jeff, "It was a good time, we learned more about road course racing and are looking forward to making improvements, getting better and running as top competitors in next season's road course races." With this
finish, into the season 10 races down with three to go, Jeff holds onto
the lead in the rookie standings, and is fourth in the championship
points' standings. They will be racing next on August 16th in California,
at Irwindale Speedway.
